I Found A Friendly Cat - What Do I Do?

Back to listings

The first rule of responsible rescue is to assume the cat is lost and has a worried owner looking for their beloved furry family member NOT that the cat was abandoned.  Accidents can happen to the most loving homes - a guest can leave a door open, a pet sitter can make a mistake.  We have seen many cats reunited with their tearful and overjoyed owners based on this one single assumption – assume this cat is a lost, owned cat.

Always have the cat scanned for a microchip (veterinarians and shelters will do this for free).  Report the cat found at the local shelters (Palm Springs: 760-416-5718, Riverside County Coachella Valley Animal Campus: 760-343-36444 ext 235 or ext 221).  Canvas actively for the owner!  For detailed information about how to do this and more, please click here (--> link coming soon).
